A few weeks ago, my hubby and I were having dinner when I excused myself to go to the bathroom. I noticed a few women standing around when I came in, but did not think too much of it. When I came out of the stall, four women were standing at the sink digging in their purses. One of the women leaned over to me to whisper, "do you happen to have a pad? My daughter just started her first period and all I have are tampons." I glanced at the teenage girl in the mirror as I dug through my purse(the young girl was so embarrassed!) and smiled warming remembering my first period.
Geez! The biggest nightmare in a teenage girls world...getting her first period in a public place!
"Mom," the girl complained, looking like being trampled by horses would have been less painful. "It's ok," her mother said, "women understand these things!" Proudly, I produced my "safety pad" that I kept for emergencies happy to be able to help. As all of the women left the restroom to give the girl some privacy, my hubby asked what had kept me so long. "It looked like a party the way all of you came out chatting," he remarked.
"You would not understand," I smiled back at him. "Its a woman thang!"
